When you buy an object or book a course with Park Ackermann, you enter into an agreement with us. These terms explain your rights and obligations as a customer, and ours as the seller, written as clearly and plainly as we can. For consumer purchases, mandatory Norwegian law also applies — including the Right of Withdrawal Act, the Consumer Purchases Act, the Contracts Act and the Marketing Control Act. Where these terms would conflict with the consumer protection in the law, the law prevails.

The parties

The agreement

The agreement consists of your order, as set out in the order confirmation, together with these terms of sale. In case of any conflict, the order confirmation prevails, provided it does not conflict with mandatory law. These terms apply to purchases of Kintsugi objects and to course bookings made via parkackermann.com. The agreement is binding once your order is confirmed.

Prices

The price you see at checkout is the total you pay for the object or course, including any applicable taxes, in the currency shown there. Shipping is added on top and shown clearly before you confirm your purchase. For deliveries outside Norway, local taxes and customs duties may apply on arrival; see Shipping & Taxes.

Order confirmation and withdrawal information

After your order, we send you an order confirmation. Please check that it matches your order, and that your name, address, email and phone number are correct. For object purchases, you also receive information about your right of withdrawal and a ready-to-use withdrawal form on a durable medium, so you have it available in unchanged form.

Payment

Payment is handled securely by our payment provider, and we never see or store full card details. The available payment methods are shown at checkout before you confirm your purchase, and the amount is charged when you place the order.

Delivery

Objects are shipped from our studio in Oslo. The delivery method, estimated delivery time and shipping cost are shown at checkout and on the Shipping & Taxes page. Unless otherwise agreed, we deliver without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the order. For international shipments, arrival time also depends on customs and the local postal service. For courses, “delivery” means your participation in the course on the date and at the address you booked.

Unusually large orders

For unusually large or heavy orders, we may need to arrange shipping separately with you before we send them. If so, we will get in touch to find a solution together. If we cannot agree on a shipping arrangement, we may cancel the order and refund the full amount you have paid, including shipping. You are also free to decline the proposed shipping arrangement and receive a full refund. We will never ask for extra payment afterwards. This applies before the order has been dispatched, and does not limit your right of withdrawal or any other mandatory rights you have under the law.

Risk for the object

The risk for the object passes to you when you, or someone you have engaged to collect or transport it, have taken possession of it. If you have chosen a carrier other than those we offer, the risk passes when the object is handed to that carrier.

Right of withdrawal for objects

You have a full 14-day right of withdrawal when you buy our objects. The period runs from the day after you receive the object. To use it, give us a clear notice before the deadline, by email or by using the withdrawal form you received. It is enough that the notice is sent before the period ends. The right of withdrawal does not apply to objects made or customised to your specifications (commissions); such work is not offered at launch. If we have not given you the statutory information about the right of withdrawal on a durable medium, the withdrawal period is extended by up to twelve months.

Returns and refunds

If you use the right of withdrawal, return the object to our studio in Oslo without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you notified us. You cover the cost of return shipping. We refund the full amount you paid, including the original standard shipping cost, no later than 14 days after we have received the object back or proof that it has been sent — we may withhold the refund until one of these is received. You are liable for any reduction in the object's value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and function.

Packing a return

The objects are fragile, often glass or ceramics, and you bear the risk for the object during return transport. Pack it as carefully as it arrived, ideally in the original packaging, and use a shipping method with tracking and insurance.

Cancellation of courses

Our courses are a leisure activity on a set date, and such services are exempt from the statutory right of withdrawal (Right of Withdrawal Act § 22 (m)). The 14-day withdrawal right therefore does not apply to course bookings, and your booking is binding once the order is completed. We keep our groups small, so a cancellation often means an empty seat — but we want to be fair. If you cancel 14 days or more before the course start, you receive a full refund. Between 7 and 13 days before, we refund 50 percent. With less than 7 days' notice, or a no-show, the course fee is not refunded. If you booked less than 14 days before the start, the purchase is binding, but you may give your place to someone else or rebook once, provided you tell us at least 48 hours in advance. We always try to find a solution through rebooking or transfer where possible. Our courses need a minimum number of participants to run. If we have to cancel, whether because too few have booked or because of illness or other unforeseen circumstances, you may choose between a full refund and a free rebooking to a later date. When we cancel because too few have booked, we will let you know as soon as we can, and no later than 48 hours before the course. To cancel, email us at booking@parkackermann.com.

Other course terms

Courses are for participants aged 18 and over. If you bring your own objects, you do so at your own risk; we handle everything with great care but cannot guarantee against damage to fragile or old items. We may take photos of the work and of the process during the course for use in our own channels — let us know on the day if you would rather not appear in photos, and we will respect that. Please follow the instructor's guidance and safety routines, such as wearing gloves; this is for your own protection.

Delay or non-delivery

If delivery is delayed or fails to happen, under the Consumer Purchases Act you may withhold payment, demand delivery, and in certain cases cancel the agreement or claim compensation. Contact us and we will find a solution.

Defects and complaints

If an object has a defect, you must notify us within a reasonable time after you discovered or should have discovered it. The complaint period is two years after you took possession of the object, and five years for objects intended to last considerably longer, such as our Kintsugi works. In the case of a defect, the law may entitle you to repair, replacement, a price reduction, or cancellation. Please note that variations arising from the Kintsugi technique and from the used base object are not defects.

The seller's rights on default

If you do not pay, or otherwise breach the agreement, the law allows us to withhold the object, demand performance and late-payment interest, and cancel the agreement in the event of a material breach.

About Kintsugi

Our work uses vintage glass and ceramics as the canvas for the Kintsugi technique. The base object may carry marks of a previous life, such as small scratches or discolouration, and the process itself creates a unique, raised surface where the gold or lacquer is applied. Each repair line is hand-applied and will vary slightly in texture and appearance. These are not faults, but are intrinsic to the art form and to the philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection. Please study the product images carefully before purchasing.

Guarantee

Any guarantee we give is in addition to your statutory rights and does not limit them.

Dispute resolution

Please contact us first, and we will try to resolve any disagreement through dialogue. If that does not succeed, you may bring the matter before the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) and, further, the Consumer Disputes Commission (Forbrukerklageutvalget). The agreement is governed by Norwegian law, and any case may be brought at your own home venue.
