Kintsugi Course

Ensjø, Oslo
  • 1 session
  • 3 hours

Kan-i kintsugi is a simpler form of the traditional craft. Over three hours, we will repair a broken piece using synthetic urushi, glue, and epoxy putty. You are welcome to bring your own object, ideally one broken into two or three parts, or use one we provide. Because the materials are synthetic, repaired pieces are best kept away from food. The course suits anyone: those meeting kintsugi for the first time, and those who simply want to learn more. The course is held in Norwegian.

Hands holding a white porcelain bowl, applying finish to dark kintsugi cracks with a brush.

You will need no prior experience, only your own apron. All other materials and tools are provided, including Japanese synthetic urushi and Japanese coloured powder. We serve authentic Japanese or Korean teas we love to share, along with snacks, and a quiet room to work in. At the end of the session, you will take your repaired piece home.
